Custom Portrait

A few recent custom portraits to share with you in this post. As I rarely update my blog, please follow me on Instagram and/or Facebook for frequent updates!

Here’s a commission portrait of Bijou. Isn’t she pretty?!! Her momma has a love of the 80s and requested for her to ‘walk’ a cassette tape/ boom box. I was also told ‘Bijou’ means ‘jewel’ in French, and so I added a little diamond on her bandana. You can follow Bijou and her equally adorable sister, Daphne at @fluffdogcrew

Next is a commission portrait of Francy. This sweet girl was hit by a car when she was a stray, causing a neurological damage to her face making her looked a little mean. She was later adopted and lived a wonderful 22 years. Her momma constantly reminded us of just how gentle, sweet and kind this girl was despite her outer appearance and what she had been through. Francy crossed the rainbow bridge last month, joining her little brother I had grown to love. Thank you for commissioning a portrait of your beloved baby from me @odieseyes . I hope you find a little comfort each time you look at this piece of Francy art.

One-Winged Angel

Sometimes I looked through my past works and wondered what inspired me to draw that or favour a certain style during that time. Other times, I have the urge to remove the 'uglier' works from my website but thought a better way would be to leave them as they are and create another version.

Interestingly, when I asked several friends to name their favourite work(s) of mine, ALL of them gave me different answers. Some of them felt a connection to a certain piece and others simply because they like the illustration/ style/ colour. I was actually quite surprised even my least favourite made it to the top of their list! From this experience, I learnt to appreciate all my works including those I find less desirable, because somewhere, somehow, there will be someone who like it. :)

Here's another re-work on my earlier piece titled, 'One-winged angel'. I was torn between keeping it in simple black & white or giving it a full colour since both will have a very different feel. Perhaps I'll try both! Ha.

After more than a month of preparation, our web store is finally up! Thank you for your patience. It's certainly not easy to manage Dollgift all by myself BUT it's all happy stress! :)

Over the past week, I've been sharing little doodles on my Facebook page/Instagram and received feedback from some of my followers that they'd enjoyed them. Thanks for letting me know! Basic Illustration Class - Lesson 3

Hello guys! Thankfully I was able to retrieve the files I lost on Saturday! So here's what I did for my illustration class few weeks back.

Before the lesson starts, we always do a recap on our previous lesson:

Moving on, we looked up for some references and came up with our 3 point perspective desert illustration.

Ta-dah!! Here's my incomplete version with funny looking little stick men walking across the desert. They're probably searching for the legendary giant! See the huge footprints? :p

And here's Jimmy's version. I know, mine didn't even come close. Lol.

If you're free this Friday, do come by to the Red Dot Museum as we'll be there again from 5pm till midnight with lots of lovely stuffs for you. As usual, all our items will be on SPECIAL price that day. And 10% of our sale proceeds will go to a local dog shelter.
